Olga Sophie Kauppinen (b.1988) is a painter from Helsinki, Finland.
Kauppinen makes artwork that aim to touch the edges of expression through painting, finding a constant, swinging equilibrium, between figuration, abstraction, sculpture, painting and drawing.
Her material choices reflect a classical approach, learned through a deep exploration into material, expressed in a contemporary format.
Kauppinen works in tandem with her subconscious mind, evoking imagery from automatic drawing practices, as well as a deep connection to the dream realm, which is characterized by the other worldly quality of her painting practice. She is a process based artist, who uses painting as a vehicle with which to connect to unseen frequencies and dimensions.
